Unit 51 Task 2
Fonts and Type Faces
What is a Font - a font is a particular size, weight and style of a typeface.
What is a Type Face - is a set of one or more fonts each composed of glyphs that share common design features. Each font of a typeface has a specific weight, style, condensation, width etc.
What is a Font Style - Stylistic variations of a font, such as italics, underline and bold.
What is a Didot - A continental system of measurement based on a unit of 0.0148 inches or 0.3759 mm
Condensed/Extended - Condensed fonts are primarily used at smaller sizes and Extended fonts are capable of being used as display fonts at much larger sizes.
Standard - I think this text makes the reader feel normal because this text is used for most things in general.
Bold - Bold stands out on the page this is usually used to attract the reader to a certain point in text, and makes thee reader feel like that certain part of text is more important.
Narrow - Narrow Font gives an effect of history, and looks similar to older English text the way it is styled, this text may be used for prologues because the thinness of lines use they stand out less and is less likely to draw the reader towards it.

Serif/Suna slight projection finishing off a stroke of a letter in certain typefaces.
Size - it matters in some context but is mostly used for certain types of readers older aged books tend to have a smaller text size so they can fit more words onto the page, the smaller texts are used for children so they can pick out specific words.
Compatibility issues - some software has specific types of fonts and styles that they use and are not on any other kind of programme so if people tried to import the font and styles which is from different software it will not work
Leading - refers to the distance between the baselines of successive lines of type.
Justification - is the typographic alignment setting of text or images within a column or "measure" to align along both the left and right margin

Kerning - is the process of adjusting the spacing between characters in a proportional font, usually to achieve a visually pleasing result.
